CHU is a compact housing unit, commissioned by Bank Hapoalim as part of planning green houses. It was displayed at the “Batim BaSdera” (Houses on the Boulevard) exhibition on Rothchild Boulevard in Tel Aviv, covered in foreign media, and was invited to take part in BMW’s mini-exhibit. The unit was designed as a green structure which contains all the functions of a living space, crammed into 4 square meters and arranged in effective compartments to reach minimal proportions: a pull-out bed allows you to sleep under the skies; cooking in the kitchen in the fresh air; a parking compartment for your bikes; a folding work desk; a built-in library; a toilet compartment; a shower compartment; a compartment for hanging clothes; a shoe drawer and more.
It is either temporary or permanent economical living, an environmentally-friendly solution ideal for travelling, for areas that are low on rain or disasters. The unit’s planning, made of metal and polygal, included new construction technologies which serve the occupant rather than contain them. It is meant for self-installation and, once installed, it can be connected to water and sewage. The electricity is solar-powered, and communication is conducted via satellite.
